Now's the Time for That
04:11
|
|||
I guess I didn't know what I was doing
I guess I didn't realize why time felt like sand running
And I would try to get as high as I could
And if I could change myself I would
Oh I would gladly get lost in this town
Follow every little back alley sound
Keep myself totally alone
While walking the sand steps to my home
And when the world cuts me to my bone
I would return to the only place I own
In this cave I play games until the dawn
Numbing my head until the mind is truly gone
Yeah you've got to decide to just simply start
Find some people who will ignite that fire in your heart
They will stick with you almost 'till the end
They will listen, and yes they will mend
Escaping in to worlds that the computer feeds to me
After all these battles the clock would strike to three
And I would get up exhausted and think of the world I once had
But I'd leave it anyway and say to myself “Now's not the time for that”
Never be afraid of what the world wants from you
It only needs the answers you have found to be true
We all have our place and believe me when I tell you this
Accepting yourself is the hardest thing there is
But baby you'll find comfort in knowing
It's only a matter of getting going
There is no force in this world that can put a stop to this
You just have to take aim and you'll never truly miss
Escaping in to worlds that the computer feeds to me
After all these battles the clock would strike to three
And I would get up exhausted and think of the world I once had
But I'd leave it anyway and say to myself “Now's not the time for that”

Forced to Retreat
04:18
|
|||
I'm standing here in the alley of our youth
Thinking how sure we were of the truth
I look at our old wooden fence
And I try to make some sense
In how things got so tense
And now after all these years
The fog of memories clears
I'm finally getting rid of my fears
I guess I miss your advice
In how to live with this vice
I've been waiting to join the skies
I'm forced to retreat
And I don't know why
I'm forced to retreat
From your eye
I'm forced to retreat
And I don't know why
I'm forced to retreat
With this lie
You were the pillar of this house
The only thing now remains is your red blouse
I keep it as a reminder of your style
I would rather have your smile
But you only see me as completely vile
I'm forced to retreat
And I don't know why
I'm forced to retreat
With this lie
I'm forced to retreat
And I don't know why
I'm forced to retreat
From your eye
Yes I promise to leave you alone
Yes I promise to not make myself known
And yes I do still miss you
And yes I do somehow get through

Along the Tracks
03:39
|

There's a man sitting in a train bound to Spain
Wondering what went wrong
He closes his eyes and tries to fall asleep
His mind hasn't had peace for long
Across the corridor a woman sits with his son
The child is fast asleep
With both their tickets in her hand
Her grief is almost too deep
And a man dressed in black starts to play with his watch
And the train enters a tunnel and all goes black
For a good minute everybody gets to be by themselves
All alone in the dark
Ready to try again
And then it's time to go back
There's a man sitting in a train bound to Spain
Laughing how everything went right
He closes his eyes and tries to fall asleep
There's no more reasons to fight
Across the corridor a woman sits with his son
The child is wide awake
With both their tickets in her hand
She looks out in peace at the lake
And a man dressed in black starts to play with his watch
And the train enters a tunnel and all goes black
For a good minute everybody gets to be by themselves
All alone in the dark
Let's try it one more time
Let's turn it back one more time

Queen
05:49
|
|||
All bow down to the queen
Who sold her nation for wealth
All bow down to the queen
Who demands your absolute attention
And all rise rise for the king
Who raised his army of one-armed soldiers
And all rise for the king
Who accepted this terrible bargain
In her tower she keeps her court
She hides behind the walls of an old iron fort
Learned from her father how to extort
The old man wasn't around for that long
Decided that her brother's life would be cut short
Her sister too now sleeps beneath our port
A child inside her she felt ready to abort
Now the queen rules with her consort
All bow down to the queen
Who sold her nation for wealth
All bow down to the queen
Who demands your absolute attention
I was taken from my ivory tower
I cannot say when she went mad with power
My wife she died in a bullet shower
Sometimes I wish I could have joined her
The queen played cards with the king of thieves for a simple wager of land
This game was set up on her command
But she lost the game which was quite unplanned
Now the man sleeps with no right hand
She has sent away the children of this nation
They advertise it as a hero's salvation
While the family is forced to make a donation
Even me they threatened with castration
The young men come back with their eyes white
With scars on their faces that shine bright
The only thing they now know how to do is fight
Brainwashed to think they're some kind of white knight
All bow down to the queen
Who sold her nation for wealth
All bow down to the queen
Who demands your absolute attention
And all rise rise for the king
Who raised his army of one-armed soldiers
And all rise for the king
Who accepted this terrible bargain

Silence
05:10
|
|||
I have the whole night to myself
A good seven hours of dancing and singing
I just wish that the walls would shut their ears
So I could have my moment in private
My moment in private
This time of the cycle is just perfect for me
The world gets so quiet
And most of the mouths of tomorrow are fast asleep
And the truth never gets told between nine-to-five
Nine-to-five
He prefers to live his life by trial-and-error
Never was much for books
Yet I learned all I know from him
Like how to repeat my most beautiful mistakes
My most beautiful mistakes
I'd like to stop writing about the act of writing in itself
I'd like to stop feeling the need to corrupt my own house
I'd like to get out of this maze of promises made years ago
Complex problems for a simple mind
I'm finding my own voice
Amidst a crowd of liars
I follow the lead of better men than all of us
I was ready to go around the world
In my quest to peel away your layers
In my quest to peel away
In to a bed of rose petals
One is eager to throw a match
But would you rise from the ashes like a phoenix
Ready to meet the demands of modern men
Oh you dark and silent night
I wish I could stay and enjoy you
For a few moments more
So you could wrap your hands around me
You self-absorbed prick
Stop trying to look for answers in those mirrors
That stand guard in your halls
I readily admit I paint my paintings with blood
But it's not drawn from my veins
No it's not drawn
From my veins

Sleeps in the Sand
03:02
|
|||
She ran the light
In to the night
With the past close on her heels
In a state of mind
To leave it behind
She burned those car wheels
She told me a tale
Of a time spent in jail
With a man who had a face of stone
He would not speak
Labeled a freak
In the corner he sat alone
Wherever she sleeps in the sand
Wherever she sleeps in the sand
Wherever she sleeps in the sand
I'll be there
Be there
Be there
She bought a glass
That could at last
Show the demons underneath
And one by one
Exposed to the sun
The spirits showed her their teeth
But the price was high
And now they wonder why
How empty remains that cell
The girl lost her mind
The man just went blind
But he still sees visions of hell
Wherever she sleeps in the sand
Wherever she sleeps in the sand
Wherever she sleeps in the sand
I'll be there
Be there
Be there
Before she went away
She advised me to pray
I asked who were they
But she would not say
She would not say
She would not say
